Bio

Nashville-based artist Nick Hickman, is no stranger to the hustle and artistry it takes to make a lasting mark on country music. Hailing from Harriman, TN, Nick moved to Nashville in 2014 to pursue his dream of writing and playing songs professionally.  Since his arrival, he has shared the stage with some of his biggest influences including Blake Shelton, Lee Brice, Justin Moore, Jason Aldean, Love & Theft, Eli Young Band and more.  Known for his high energy performances and crowd interaction, Nick established himself as an act capable of handling the often grueling schedule of being on the road each week with national touring.  Venue owners and talent bookers alike have only positive things to say about the young act:

“Nick is very personable and likable.  He owns a stage and a crowd.  Along with some great songwriting and melodies, his voice will invite you, truly entertain you, and keep you asking for more.” (Lee Formolo, Sol Blu Lounge/Iron Mountain MI)

“Nick is a tremendous artist.  He rocks our stage every time he performs, and the guy can SING.  He has an open invitation to play our venue anytime.  We told him we’d just leave the key under the mat.” (George Schroeder, CU Saloon/Appleton WI)

The fervor for Nick’s feel good vibe has its roots in his songwriting abilities.  His melodies are extremely singable and catchy, and his lyrics and voice portray sincere authenticity.  This appreciation for Nick’s artistry manifested in a Top 20 spot in the Nash Next competition, an incredible accomplishment given the sheer number of applicants.  Ryan McCall, radio programmer at WGLR deemed Nick “just as good as any top name headliner.”  And so far, the radio community seems to be in agreement.

After the release of his 2016 EP Tailgate Dancefloor, Hickman saw his debut single “Rain” receive widespread airplay and success on the Music Row Breakout chart, charting in the top 70, a feat not easily accomplished by a newcomer.  Subsequent EP, Let Em Speak, in 2017 saw its first single “Tipsy” reach #46 on the chart, while Nick’s third single “Live For Tonight (feat. Amber Hayes)” broke the top 30 at number 27 and earned a placement at #60 on the Billboard indicator chart, an almost unheard of accolade for an artist without major label backing.  With Nick’s music contending with the heavy-hitters of Nashville’s artist scene, Nick demonstrates his unwillingness to accept anything short of his absolute best by clocking time in the writing room, studio, and stage to fuel his path to success.

“What you see is what you get,” Hickman says.  “I do not edit myself, I do not censor myself.  I am just me.”  It is exactly this unapologetic and real personality that draws so many to Nick’s music.

While the covid-19 pandemic caused many artists to sideline or pursue other things, Nick used the opportunity to not only found his own record label, Whiskey Neat Records, but to build his own studio.  His 2022 EP Feels Like Home is the product of a year and a half of focus and creativity.  Nick’s intention with every release is to “make better music each time”, and this EP certainly delivers.  Flaunting a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, the first single “Taken Off” uses masterful wordplay and conversational tone to bring the listener right into the narrator’s predicament.  Subsequent singles will be stylistically diverse, from sweet and reminiscent to feel-good and energetic.  One thing is certain. Nick Hickman has big plans for the future, and based on what we’ve already seen, that future has even greater plans for him.
